    Superb

This was the second time we'd visited Villa Eugene and as before the standard of accommodation was excellent. The staff were helpful and friendly and the atmosphere was delightful.

We do feel that the hotel is quite expensive and considering this, the extra 17 euros per person for breakfast was, we felt, excessive for what was on offer.

This was our third stay at La Villa Eugene, so we obviously like it. We have stayed in a different room on each occasion and all have been superb: spacious, beautifully decorated and furnished, with large, well-appointed bathroom. The breakfast room is beautiful and breakfast itself excellent for a continental breakfast. The hotel has no restaurant as such for evening meals, but this year was offering light meals for eating in the breakfast room. You are better advised walking into Epernay town centre (a twenty minute stroll up the Avenue de Champagne) to eat at one of the excellent restaurants there - the hotel reception has a list of the best ones and will happily book a table for you. The hotel staff are always very helpful and the girl on the reception desk phoned round several Champagne growers to try and organize visits for us. This is a lovely hotel and despite being on a main road the double glazing keeps noise to a minimum and the air conditioning keeps the temperature comfortable. It's quite pricey, but we would recommend La Villa Eugene unhesitatingly.

    Fabulous

Fabulous old house. The room was a tad expensive for what we got. We paid £350 for 2 nights and this was for an 'attic room'. There were much grander rooms in the hotel at much grander prices! All in all it was a lovely stay. There is no restaurant in the hotel but this did not bother us as there are many fine dining restaurants in the area.

The hotel is in a beautiful old villa and the room which we had was immaculate, roomy and very comfortable. The staff could not have been more helpful or accomodating, despite our pretty hopeless command of the French language.

    Very good

Reasonably good location about 1km from Epernay. Very good quality and sized accommodation for a European hotel.

The credit card we provided to Booked.net as guarantee was debited for accommoation cost by the hotel at the time of booking. This is practice counter to any other hotel that we have booked online or otherwise, usual practice is for payment to be made at the end of the stay. This caused us extra currency exchange expense as the card we provided to Booked.net as guarantee was not the one we use for payments. We consider this practice unacceptable and probably illegal as we had authorised Booked.net to debit the card in the case of default, the hotel had no authority to debit the card. Also, most European hotels we have booked online include breakfast in their tariff. This was not the case with La Villa Eugene who charged EUR17 extra p

The hotel has been beautifully restored and the rooms are elegant, spacious and comfortable. A huge bath, well stocked mini bar. Good room rate, secure parking, very helpful staff (they gave me headache tablets when I had a really bad migrane) and they talked us through the photos etc - when we showed interest in the hotel's restoration.

Plastic sheets on the bed - we are 30 years and 44 years old - think it was a bit funny that they would do this - pehaps they thought we might wet the bed?? Breakfast is expensive 17 euros each - it's nice but not worth the price tag I don't think. As it was our honeymoon, had hoped for an upgrade as the hotel wasn't full (we pre emailed to ask for a really romantic room if possible) Whilst our room was lovely, I wouldn't say it was romantic - there were others with four poster beds etc and old fashioned baths that we would have loved to stay in.

Spaciousness of room, well-decorated, intelligently-designed bathroom. Upgrade on arrival. Quiet location. Superb quality of internet access.

Very minor point: highly ornate desk wasn't entirely designed for functional use. I twice managed to puncture my leg on decorative molding while getting up from the desk. (Despite it being the only hotel on this trip to draw blood, it was still excellent overall.) Also, breakfast is expensive.

    Superb

We were very pleased to arrive at this hotel. It far exceeded the good reviews I had read on various websites. A helpful member of staff rushed out to help us unload our suitcases as we drew into car park. We had a large room with a lovely bathroom, huge bath, marble around sink etc.,maybe this room was the superior category. it was facing the garden and swimming pool terrace. there were loungers and deckchairs with small tables where at the end of the day the guests sat reading and having drinks. That evening we walked into town for drinks at the wine bar C comme champagne on one of the main streets. then dinner at a fish restaurant. The walk is 0.8 miles. After dinner we returned on the avenue de champagne where the hotel is located.

    Fabulous

the hotel was lovely and romantic, the bathroom was beautiful . I liked the small touches like an umbrella to use whilst at the hotel, the amount of different language tv stations etc.

it was a fair way from the town and had it have been nice weather this would be fine but in the rain it was quite long and wewt to walk there,

    Fabulous

Good location in Epernay just off the Avenue de champagne, although the walk into town for a restaurant was a bit long as we were hungry, but easy. Hotel itself was nice, room was surprisingly business-style in decor, great bathroom though, nice products, lots of space, good shower. We didnt' have breakfast there, so can't comment on that.

Mercier is next door, so we did a tour there, altough i'm not sure I would recommend the tour as it was quite formulaic and seemed tailored to children, strangely. No bar at all in the hotel, or it wasn't open, which was a shame as woudl have been nice to have a drink before heading out to dinner. On balance, I would recommend, it just seemed quite expensive for what it was, but a reliable choice especially for one night.

We loved the renovated residence, it was beautiful. This location offers those who love champagne to visit Epernay but also have very close access to numerous other locations and champagne houses all over the champagne region. Highly recommend staying out in the area vs the big city of Reims, you cannot appreciate the beauty of the vineyards nor the incredible numbers of fine champagne, much of which never leaves France, let alone Europe. This makes it all the more special. The Villa has a beautiful pool, terrace and garden that also takes you away from the hustle/bustle of the main street, the rooms were sound proof, moreover airconditioned which is an absolute luxury during this hot summer.

    Superb

It was a really lovely experience with everyone being very welcoming. Their "concierge" service was also very nice, as we were able to dine very well although it was late already!

During our stay at this hotel we were treated as family of the hotel. You could ask them what you wanted and they explained or organised it as professionals. The room was comfortable, clean and gave you the feeling of living as a landlord in 1900 with the luxury of today. Breakfast is a must do, the person who takes care of the breakfast is make home made youghurt and white cheese.... just amazing.
